Abstract:
based on multidisciplinary research, such as tectonic geology, displacement observation with infrared phase, chronology study, neotectonics analysis, remote sensing analysis, seismicity analysis, numerical modeling, the activity of faults under the gas station of Xinyang city is studied. The results show that the scale of the faults is not large, and no large up and down motion in Quaternary. As the seismicity is weak in its vicinity, local structure is stable, and stress is smooth, it might be a stable ‘island’. The faults in central and southern part of the site have been healed, so there is no electric anomaly. The faults north of the site had been active 360 thousand years ago, but have never moved again since then, so they belong to Holocene active faults.
