THE ACTIVITY OF SHIJIAZHUANG FAULT AND ITS EFFECT ON THE STABILITY OF THE CITY PROPER

This paper made a research on Shijiazhuang fault by varieties of methods such as artificial seismic prospecting and the stratigraphic section contrast etc..The results indicate that this fault is an active fault at Quaternary Period.It passes through Daanshe, Liuying, Yucun and Yongbi etc., Located at the west of Shijiazhuang City, striking northwest 8°.Moreover, based on the data of seismic activity and crustal deformation etc., the paper discusses the effect of the fault on the crustal st ability of Shijiazhuang City proper.The result has provided a strong foundation for the city's constructive programme.
