ACTIVE FAULTS IN LIAODONG PENINSULA AND THE TECTONIC SETTING OF THE JINZHOU EARTHQUAKE OF MAGNITUDE 6

  • This paper presents the characteristics of the activa fai1ts in Liaodong peninsula based on the interpretaion of Landsat imagery.A total of 76 photoes from 19 sets of Landsat imagery which were shot at different times has been used. As a result, the northeast trending Qujiatun fault has been revealed as an active fault. In order to confirm the results of the interpretation, field work has been carried out in some regions. The tectonic setting of the Jinzhou earthquake has also been discussed briefly.
