THE BINARY STATISTIC ANALYSIS AND AUTOCORRE LATION ANALYSIS OF SEISMIC SERIES IN CHINA

Seismic activities in China and subrcgions are discussed by binary statistic analysis and autocorrelation analysis. Seismic series may be transferred to binary series after fixing determinative level. The changes of subseries Lk indicate repeated character of earthquakes greater than some magnitude M. The values of Lk arc high as K=4, 8, 10 in analysing the seismic series in China during the period 1867-1983 and the autocorrelation function pr equal to 0.38 as τ=4 at 1% significance level. The seismic series in the subregions are similarly analysed.
