NEW CLASSIFICATION FOR ACTIVE FAULTS BY SATELLITE PHOTOGRAPHIC STUDIES

  • The rising, descending and translation of ueotectonic movement may be anal ysed by satellite photographic studies and the movement relation of two walls of active faults can be identified so that we could be able to classify active faults into five major classes or more than ten types. Each type has its own pattern marks on satellite photograph. Therefore it can get twice the result with half the effort to classify active faults with this technique. They play different role in aerthquake development and occurence process because of different mechanical process. However, by classifying active faults and studying their activities and the change of their active types, we may infer the active trend of the faults and probability of earthquake occurrence.
