TORSIONAL MOVEMENT OF QUARTERNARY FAULT BLOCK AND EARTHQUAKE IN HEBEI PLAIN

  • The crust is layered,and dissected into many geological blocks of different sizes called fault blocks by faults in different depth.Fault blocks can move in a certain part-icular way in regional structural stress fields.The movement of fault blocks not only are advantageous to the movement and gathering of mineral products, but also can co-ntrol the intraplate earthquake preparation and activity.In this paper, according to the principal marks-deposit depth and lithofacies-for determining crustal rising and descending movements, the relationship between the torsional movement of quarternary fault blocks and earthquakes in Hebei plain is discussed.
