Based on small earthquakes data,this paper calculates and analyzes b-values from 1996 Jan.to 2009 May.in Shandong area using the least square method and maximum likelihood method and compares these two methods based on the results.Finally,we discuss the characteristics of b-values temporal variation in Shandong area and problems reflected by it.
