THE INVERSION OF TECTONIC STRESS FIELD IN NORTH CHINA FROM ACTUAL STRESS MEASUREMENTS

In this paper the tectonic stress field in North China is inversed from the actual str-ess measurements by the finite element method.It has been determined that the external forces of this area are N70°E and nearly E-W.In addition, the maximum principal stre-ss concentration zone, the maximum shear stress concentration zone and faults under the maximum principal stress are also pointed out.These data can be used as a reference for analyzing the stress field in North China and selecting the measuring points in further stress measurement as well as investigating the fault activity in this area.
