CHARACTERISTICS OF SEISMICITY OF STRONG EARTHQUAKES IN NORTH TIANSHAN SEISMIC ZONE

North Tianshan seismic zone is an intro-continental one where several strong shocks (Ms=8) occurred. The relationship between the characteristic of strong shock activity and geological structure is discussed,The zone is divided into three sub-seismic zones and an analysis and comparison have been made for their seismicity and relativity.lt is shown that strong shock activities of Kebin-Nilk sub-seismic zone and Southern margin region of Zhungle Basin are related to that of Ugia-Hashi and Alta-Begal regions respectively. However, strong seismic activity of Aibihu sub-seismic zone is affected by southern and northern structural movement. Finally,their significance in geodynamics is discussed in terns of geology and seismicity.
