A PRELIMINARY DISCUSSION ON THE SEISMIC MACRO-OBSERVATION POSTS

According to the general characteristics of macro-precursory anomalies before large earthquakes, this paper discusses the scientific property to set up dense macro-observational networks along major structures.It is pointed out that using each natural village as one observational post is an optimum organizational form of grass-roots seismic macro-odservation posts.It, combining the 16 years' working practice in Hebei Province, summarizes three functions of the seismic macro-observation posts in strengthening public consciousness of disaster prevention, the detection of short-term and imminent seismic precursory information and close contact between seismological departments and the public, thus it expounds that to conduct long-term and deepgoing seismic macro-observations is an effective countermeasure in mass observation and prevention of earthquake hazard.
