A STUDY OF RAY PATH AND TRAVELTIME OF SEISMIC WAVES IN LINEAR CONTINUOUS VARYING VISCOELASTIC MEDIA

  • The viscoelastic media exist videly in the earth. The model of vertical linear continuous varying vis-coelastic media is very important whether in seismic theory or application. In this paper, by using the definition of complex velocity, we have derived the ray paath and isotime equations in the viscoelastic media with vertical continuous varying complex velocity, the theory result shows that the ray path is as a circle, the isotime plane as an oval. Finally we discussed the condition of application of the ray path and isotime plane equations.
