Abstract
In this paper, the authors, on the bases of predecessors's studies, by analysing the data concerning the Songpan earthquake and conparing the event with the Haicheng earthquake of 1975 and the Tang-shan earthquake of 1976, suggest it is possible that the Songpan earthquake and the phenomena accompanied with the event resulted from the same cause, that is, magma intrusion in the crustal depth. The event, precursors and phenomena after the event are interpreted by intrusion force, diffusion of heat and escape of gases in magma. Finally, the authors also discuss some problems concerned.
