Abstract
This paper analyzed 7936 earthquakes (Ms>6.0) occurred from 1900 to 1980 A. D.. We found that 49.6% earthquakes occurred between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn, and 99.17% earthquakes between the Arctic Circle and Antarctic Circle. There are only a few earthquakes (0.83%) occurred in the polar region. We also analyzed 257 earthquakes (Ms>8.0) occurred from 648 to 1979 A. D. and found that most of them occurred near latitude 35°N. The destructive earthquakes occurred in history are also occurred near latitude 35°N. perhaps, these phenomena have relation to the rotation of the earth.
