AN EVIDENT NW-TRENDING SEISMIC ZONE OF MEDIUM-STRONG EARTHQUAKE IN CENTRAL SHANDONG PROVINCE

  • Changqing-Linyi seismic zone, which consists of 9 historical medium strong earthquakes, is an evident seismic zone in central Shandong Province. These earthquakes were distributed in four seismic regions with 50-55Km iso-separation along NW-trending. Except the 1668 Tancheng earthquake (M=8 1/2) generated by NNE-trending Tanlu (Tancheng-Lujiang) fault zone, other earthquakes were controlled by Mt. Mengshan fault with NW-trending. They were the results of activities of each segment along Mt.Mengshan fault. Moreover, this seismic zone has a deep structure background. In furure, some attention should be paid to the possibility of the reoccurence of medium-strong earthquakes along this seismic zone.
