THE CORRELATION ANALYSIS OF EARTHQUAKES AND GROUND FISSURES ACTIVITY IN HEIBEI PLAIN

In this paper we study the seismic activity characteristics in Hebei plain using frequency, epicenter distribution and hypocenter depth of earthquakes(Ms≥2.0) from 1970 to 2000;We also study the activity regularity of ground fissures in this area.The result indicates that the formation and development of ground fissures have close relationship with seismic activity and faulting in this area.The climax of tectonic fissures is corresponding to the climax of seismic activity, but not entirely in-phase.
