Abstract
The 2006 Wen' an MS5.1 earthquake and the 2020 Guye MS5.1 earthquake were comparatively analyzed by using the abnormal seismic quiescence image, the region-time-length curve method and the hotspots of pattern information method. The results show that: (1) there are different spatio-temporal quiescence patterns before the two MS5.1 earthquakes. (2) the RTL method shows that there is significant seismic quiescence abnormality 6 months before Wen' an earthquake, and not appeared 6 months before Guye earthquake. (3) the PI method shows that under the 3a forecasting window length and 0.1°×0.1° grid size, hotspots were found near the epicenter of both earthquakes. Compared with the Guye earthquake, the effective hotspots of the Wen'an earthquake has indicative significance for epicenter location, and the seismic risk is higher. The above research has certain reference significance for summarizing the seismic activity characteristic and risk assessment of M≥5.0 earthquakes in North China.
