Abstract
Based on the earthquake catalog provided by the China Earthquake Network Center for the period from September 5, 2022 to September 5, 2023, and using the double-difference relocation algorithm, the aftershock sequences of the September 5, 2022 Luding Ms 6.8 earthquake in Ganzi, Sichuan Province are relocated in different time windows. The spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of aftershocks are compared in different intervals of time and space. The results show that: in terms of time, the Luding earthquake is a main-aftershock sequence, and the depth of aftershocks gradually increase with time, indicating that the tectonics of this region is still active. Spatially, the Luding earthquake is bilateral rupture and have conjugate fault, which indicates that the media properties on both sides of the Xianshuihe Fault are not much different and the tectonic stress field in the region is complex. The triggering mechanism for early aftershocks is the afterslip mode, while for late aftershocks is the fluid diffusion mode.
