Characteristics of Tectonic Environment of Tangshan MS5.1 Earthquake on July 12, 2020

  • After the MS5.1 Tangshan Guye Tashanying earthquake occurred on July 12, 2020, Hebei Earthquake Agency organized a team to go to the earthquake site to carry out intensity and damage investigation. This paper makes a comprehensive analysis of the seismotectonic environment, focal mechanism solution of the MS5.1 earthquake, intensity and damage, seismicity level in the old Tangshan earthquake area, and the creep anomaly before the earthquake. The specific suggestions for short-term and impending prediction of moderate strong earthquakes in Tangshan old earthquake area are given.
