Source Parameter Characteristics of Different Type Earthquakes in Guangxi Area

  • In order to study the source parameters characteristics of different type earthquakes, 493 earthquakes above ML1.8 were collected from the Guangxi Seismic Network. These events are typical tectonic earthquakes, collapse earthquakes and blasting. The source parameter calculation software package for small earthquakes was used to calculate the source parameters of each earthquake. On this basis, the characteristics and scaling law relationships of various earthquake source parameters were studied. The results show that there is a good scaling law relationship between the stress drop, seismic moment and local earthquake magnitude of tectonic earthquake and collapse earthquake. When the magnitude is the same, the stress drop of blasting is an order of magnitude higher than that of collapse earthquake. The seismic moment of tectonic earthquakes is one order of magnitude higher than that of collapse earthquakes and two orders of magnitude higher than that of blasting events. The corner frequencies of different types of earthquakes have little difference. The above result may provide reference for the identification of different types of earthquakes in Guangxi.
