Abstract
‘Repeating earthquakes’ identified by waveform cross-correlation technology is common in nature, and have been widely used to detect the change of crustal medium properties, assess the location accuracy of the network and estimate fault slip rates at depth or earthquake recurrence. In this paper, the waveform cross-correlation technique is used to identify ‘repeating earthquakes’ in the Jingxi MS5.2 earthquake sequence, and a total of 15 pairs of ‘repeating earthquakes’ are obtained, which include 40 independent seismic events. The selected ‘repeating earthquake’ pairs are used to quantitatively judge the phase picking error in the earthquake catalog and to evaluate the location accuracy of the Guangxi digital seismic network. The results show that the horizontal error of seismic parameters in Jingxi region location by the Guangxi digital seismic network is about 3 km, and the positioning error is mainly caused by the uneven spatial distribution of stations and the inaccurate crustal velocity structure model. The relocation accuracy of Jingxi MS5.2 earthquake sequence based on hyp2000 mathod and Double difference mathod with waveform cross-correlation technology are obviously improvement, and the horizontal error and depth error are both less than 2.3 km, which is useful and significant in the study of fine seismicity image of Jingxi MS5.2 earthquake.
