Seismogenic Structure of the 2019 MS5.2 Guangxi Jingxi Earthquake

  • On November 25, 2019, an MS5.2 earthquake occurred in Guangxi Jingxi. Through geological survey, remote sensing interpretation, combined with the main aftershock distribution, focal mechanism solution, seismic intensity and other data, this paper discusses the seismic structure of this earthquake. It is inferred that the southwest part of the Xialie-Shangying fault may be the seismic rupture of the earthquake. The aftershocks and Ⅵ line of seismic intensity map of the earthquake are all distributed around the fault. The focal mechanism solution shows that it is a thrust type earthquake, which is also consistent with the kinematic properties of the fault. Bounded by the Heishuihe fault and Guichunhe fault, the Xialei-Shangying fault is affected and controlled by them. The Heishuihe fault and Guichunhe fault may be the controlling structures of the earthquake.
