Abstract
Based on the Real-time Earthquake Damage Assessment using City-scale Time-history analysis (RED-ACT), the seismic damage assessment of the Hebei Tangshan M4.5 earthquake on December 5, 2019, is performed in this work. Firstly, the peak ground accelerations (PGAs) and response spectra based on the typical records of strong ground motions are analyzed. Secondly, the seismic responses of typical individual structures are computed using the typical ground motion records. Finally, the building damage distribution and the human feeling distribution near to different stations are assessed. The results show that the destructive power of this earthquake is very limited, which is basically consistent with the actual filed investigation. Based on the City-scale Nonlinear Time-History Analysis and densely-distributed seismic network, the real-time seismic damage assessment method, RED-ACT can provide an important reference for post-earthquake emergency.
