Inquiring into the Nature of Wuyuan Earthquake Swarm in 2005

In this paper, we make a detailed study on the Wuyuan earthquake swarm in February 2005 using the prediction method of the seismological analysis guide and research findings of the Five-Year Plan and the Ninth Five-Year Plan. According to synthetical analysis of the statistical parameters of the swarm sequence and some characteristics of the source and medium, the precursory significance of the earthquake swarm corresponding is not obvious. This earthquake swarm may be the result of stress self-adjustment in Linhe fault rift zone under the background of the enhancement of regional stress field during the preparation of three moderate and strong earthquakes in July 2005 in the Yinshan uplift region.
