Abstract
An MS8.2 earthquake occurred in Mexico (15.05°N, 93.90°W) on September 8, 2017. We inversed the present-day stress tensor for different sub-areas and depth intervals of study region based on focal mechanisms from Global Centroid Moment Tensor, and obtained stress images of different depth. The stress inversion results indicate that the maximum principal compression stress axes rotate from NS to NNE-SSW in 0~70 km depth from west to east; the maximum principal compression stress axes are NE-SW in 70~200 km depth commonly; the maximum principal compression stress axes are nearly NS in 200~300 km depth. Different depth interval has different stress regime in Mexico region.
