Application of Principal Component Analysis in Shanxi Geomagnetic Observatory

  • The observation data from October 2015 to June 2016 record by 5 sets of GM4 flux-gate magnetometer on both sides of the Hengshan fault zone in the north of the Shanxi province are study using the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) method. The results show that the contribution of the first to the fourth principal component is about 91%; the first principal component is positively correlated with the Kp index of geomagnetic activity; the second to the fifth principal components has no obvious daily variation characteristics; there is also a negative correlation between the first and other principal components.
