Abstract
On September 10, 2016, a ML4.3 earthquake occurred in Tangshan city which belongs to the Tangshan earthquake sequence. In this study, on basis of waveform data from digital seismic network of Hebei province and its adjacent regions, the focal mechanism solution and focal depth of the earthquake is inverted using the CAP method. The results of focal mechanism and focal depth are confirmed by comparing the observed records with the synthetic waveform computed using the F-K method. The results show that the earthquake mechanism is a strike-slip fault with normal thrust component. The moment magnitude is 4.4. The strike, dip and slip angles of two nodal planes of the best double couple solution is 238.0°, 44.0°, -143° and 119.5°, 65.3°, -52.4°, the estimated focal depth is 6.5 km.
