Focal Mechanism Solution of the Rushan Earthquake Swarm Sequences over M3.0 with CAP Method

  • Using the CAP (Cut and Paste Method) method, this article retrieved nine focal mechanism solutions of the earthquake swarm sequences over M3 in Rushan. The results show that these focal mechanism solutions are nearly consistent with each other, with slight differences in the distribution of focal depths and epicenters; the optimal fitting focal depths range from 3.8 kilometers to 8.6 kilometers, mainly locate in upper crust near the surface; the fault strike of Rushan earthquake swarm sequences is from north to west with the dip from north to east. Due to the distance away from the known main strikes, it is also assumed that there are one or several buried faults in Rushan earthquake area.
