APPLICATION OF SPL PHASE IN FOCAL DEPTH DETERMINATION OF THE JIUJIANG-RUICHANG MS5.7 EARTHQUAKE SEQUENCE

  • In this paper,we select ML≥2.0 aftershocks of the 26 November 2005 Jiujiang-Ruichang MS5.7 earthquake sequence recorded on Jiujiang seismostation.According to the characteristics of depth phase sPL,the sPL phase analysis for this earthquakes are conducted.The reliable results of focal depth distributions calculated by sPL phases are given and compared with that obtained by other methods (the CAP method,the method of double-difference location,the method of sPn phase,the Hyposat method,etc). The results show it is feasible by measuring near-field earthquake depth using sPL phase.The earthquake sequence concentrate in the depth range of about 9~11km.
