WATER LEVEL IN BAIHUGOU WELL AND EARTHQUAKES

  • 摘要: 白狐沟井位于包头市北部,从1979年对该井水位曾连续观测。1979年8月25日包头西五原县发生Ms6.0级地震,1981年8月13日包头东丰镇县发生Ms5.8级地震。在观测中,震前该井水位均发生了明显异常,为地震预报提供了较可靠的依据。

     

    Abstract: Baihugou Well is located in the north of Baotou City. Its water level has been observed continuously since 1979. An earthquake measured Ms6.0 occured in Wuyuan County to the west of Baotou on August 25, 1979. Another earthquake measured Ms5.8 occured in Fengzhen County to the east of Baotou on August 13, 1981. In the observation the water levels of this well were all evidently abnormal before these two quakes. Such reliable precursors were offered for the prediction of earthquake.
