Abstract: This paper, on the basis of the author's investigative data about the civil buildings in the rural areas in Shanxi province, classified the civil buildings in rural areas in Shanxi province, enumerated 18 types of buildfings, analysed their construction distinguishing feature and their ability for earthquake resistance, and put forward some countermeasures such as making general investigation and evaluation on the buildings, strengthening management on building construction and spreading the knowledge of earthquake resistance and hazard protection etc. Finally the way for implementation of these contermeasures and its feasibility are briefly discussed.
